The Florida Supreme Court denied an attorney’s petition for reinstatement in what one legal ethics expert characterized as a cautionary tale for any lawyer attempting rehabilitation without proper guidance or follow through.

“The court’s opinion may be used as a roadmap for attorneys to better understand the disciplinary process–not only to assist them in remaining compliant, but also as a guide for appropriately traveling the road to rehabilitation,” said Jan L. Jacobowitz, an adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law.
