The City of Sweetwater owed no legal obligation to provide a city employee with accurate information about his employment rank, Florida's Third District Court of Appeals ruled Wednesday.

In 2012, then-mayor of Sweetwater, Jose M. Diaz, erroneously informed former police officer Richard Pichardo that he was being promoted from a police officer to the rank of lieutenant. About 15 months later, the police chief sought to terminate Pichardo, according to the appellate court.
