Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley partner Mariano Garcia, along with plaintiff counsel Juan Diaz, Boris Zhadanovskiy and Ed Ricci, won $2.96 million for the family of Raul Ramon Barbero Cadavieco, a 71-year-old who died while undergoing a prostate-removal surgery.

“We didn’t suggest the number to the jury. We told them to put a value on the loss of Raul to his wife. It had been five and three quarter years since Raul had passed away, so we wanted them to come up with a number to see how much Raul’s widow should receive after all the pain and suffering of her husband. I never ask to get a certain amount. The jury came up with the value, based on the formula which I suggested,” Garcia said.
