E.W. Scripps Co. and WFTX-TV vice president Evan Pappas were sued Monday in Florida Middle District Court over alleged race-based employment discrimination. The lawsuit was brought by Shankman Leone P.A. on behalf of Jane Monreal, a former news anchor for WFTX who accuses Pappas of expressing and practicing favoritism toward the all-Caucasian morning news team over Monreal's nightly news team, which was more diverse. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 2:22-cv-00016, Monreal v. Scripps Media, Inc. et al.
