A Florida state appellate panel sided with a South Florida boat yard company in its bid for attorney fees after the plaintiff voluntarily dismissed his lawsuit seeking damages for being banned from the business’s property.

A dispute over fees for the storage and repair of Deren Giordano’s boat at the Catamaran Boat Yard in Key Largo apparently turned violent and the boat yard’s owner banned Giordano from the property, according to the appeals court’s Jan. 12 opinion.
