An attorney based in Fort Lauderdale—who landed a multimillion-dollar verdict against a ladder manufacturer and the largest home improvement retailer in the country who sold that product—is speaking out to lawyers and the public about what he says is a "ticking time bomb."

Sam Coffey, a partner at Coffey McPharlin, said the Florida statute of repose limits the period of a manufacturer's liability to no more than 12 years after delivery of the product to its first purchaser under Florida Statute sec. 95.031(2)(b).
