Morgan Stanley was slapped with a defamation lawsuit Monday in Florida Southern District Court. The suit, filed by Wargo & French on behalf of securities industry veteran Candido Viyella, contends that after Viyella was terminated, Morgan Stanley prohibited his son from taking on his former clients, engaged in a smear campaign to discredit his reputation and interfered with his continued work in the financial industry. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is 1:22-cv-20388, Viyella v. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC et al.
