Ahead of a planned Miami office opening this summer, the technology focused Chicago boutique Actuate Law has hired former City of Miami Mayor Xavier Suarez from Greenspoon Marder to join the firm as senior counsel.

In an email, Suarez said he joined the firm after meeting with its litigators and “tech-savvy” transactional lawyers, whose visions aligned with Suarez’s practice of representing companies in big data, cybersecurity, digital assets and other technology industry clients. Talks about the move began with a chance encounter when Suarez met Actuate associate Lolita “Loly” Sosa at a Harvard Law School alumni event.
