The 2022 American Jewish Committee of Miami and Broward County’s Judge Learned Hand Award, a recognition of lawyers who demonstrate leadership in the profession and their broader communities, went to two South Florida attorneys: Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod managing partner Albert Dotson Jr. and Dotson’s father, Albert Dotson Sr.

The Miami and Broward section of the AJC held a reception earlier this month to present Al Dotson Jr. with the award. His father, who passed away last May, became the first Black manager of a Sears, Roebuck and Co. store and then moved to Miami, where he became a leader for the business community and local organizations.
