The defense decided not to show its hand on Monday in the Broward Circuit Court case against Nikolas Cruz, 23, the triggerman behind the massacre of students and faculty at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in February 2018.

Melisa McNeill, an assistant public defender at the Law Office of the Public Defender in Broward County, represents Cruz, 23. She reserved the right to present her case until after the state finished presenting its case.
