Gov. Ron DeSantis has appointed and reappointed 15 South Florida attorneys to Florida Judicial Nominating Commissions, meaning they’ll have the power to evaluate and recommend candidates to become state judges.

DeSantis announced the slate of 50 statewide appointments and reappointments on Wednesday. They stem from a list of nominees recommended by the Florida Bar, which include some former judges and several commercial litigators. Only two of the 15 appointees in South Florida were women.
