An economic and financial consulting company released new intelligence on securities class action filings in its midyear assessment report, showing the priority and influence of the private sector attorneys and governmental securities regulators on long-term trends.

Jonathan Youngwood, a global co-chair of Simpson Thacher’s litigation department, said that while the Cornerstone Research report points out some period-over-period changes in numbers and types of cases, the overall report mostly showed consistency in the type and number of securities cases being filed.
