When West Palm Beach attorney Gary Lesser, Florida’s new bar president, first became a lawyer 30 years ago, mentorship was something that seemed to happen organically, around the proverbial—or actual—office watercooler.

Now, though, Lesser said he realizes he took those sorts of opportunities for granted, as many law school graduates and junior attorneys are struggling to get law firm jobs and experience. As a result, he’s found that they often put out their own shingle without the kind of mentors around who could help them succeed.
