Attorneys at Kennedys on Tuesday removed an insurance coverage lawsuit against Markel subsidiary Evanston Insurance to Florida Southern District Court. The suit, filed by Kopelowitz Ostrow Ferguson Weiselberg Gilbert on behalf of Sheriff Gregory Tony of Broward County, seeks defense and indemnification in connection with multiple underlying lawsuits stemming from the 2018 Parkland shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The underlying suits contend that the sheriff's department was negligent in failing to timely and adequately respond to the shooting. The case is 0:22-cv-62076, Tony v. Evanston Insurance Co.
