Back in 2020, then-presidential candidate Joe Biden was calling for a reversal of President Donald Trump’s policies aimed at isolating Cuba from the U.S. Now as president Biden has yet to take any steps in that direction as his first term in the White House nears its end. And that’s proven disappointing for attorneys and others who’ve long been eyeing dealmaking opportunities in one of the largest nations in the Caribbean.

“Cuba remains a poisonous spiked toad that very few want to touch,” John Kavulich, president of the U.S.-Cuba Trade and Economic Council, said.
