As I bid farewell to my esteemed position as bureau chief of the Daily Business Review, I reflect on a path marked by resilience, adaptability, and the courage to embrace change—a journey that, in many ways, mirrors the dynamic world of law. My story is one of unique beginnings, shaped by the remarkable convergence of diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
My journey into the Van Ostrand family began with an unexpected call in November 1990. Born to two young college students, I became the focal point of a life-altering decision when, just days after my birth, my biological parents reached out to a law firm in Muncie, Indiana, expressing their wish to immediately place me for adoption.
