The Sixth District Court of Appeal affirmed a final judgment entered by a trial court in a dissolution of marriage action and, in doing so, certified a question to the Florida Supreme Court that the judges held was over a conflict with "four of our sister courts."

Edward Guedes, a Miami-based partner at Weiss Serota Helfman Cole + Bierman, said that the case involving the appeal filed by William Julia in his dissolution of marriage proceeding with Melissa Ramos-Baez in the Polk Circuit Court was notable for several reasons. Among them, the expert said, was that the trial court was bound by precedent to require orders awarding attorney fees to include written findings concerning the Florida Patient's Compensation Fund v. Rowe factors.
