When Heloiza Correa takes the Miami-Date County bench early next year, it will be the culmination of a plan that began to take shape when she was a fifth grader. 

Correa, a commercial litigator in Miami, comes to the bench with a mix of criminal and civil experience. She defeated Cristobal David Padron by securing nearly 52% of the vote for the Group 29 seat. She began planning her career in the law realized she wanted to pursue the law when she was in fifth grade.
