As the 2024 presidential election approaches, many employers and foreign nationals holding visas or green cards are increasingly concerned about how the outcome may impact their businesses and lives. With over 25 years of experience practicing U.S. immigration law, my message has not wavered: regardless of who wins, employers and visa or green card beneficiaries will inevitably face changes that affect their futures.

Beyond border-related issues, there is a growing national appetite for reform, particularly in the realm of business-based immigration. For example, the Immigration and Nationality Act is long overdue for a comprehensive overhaul. Two key factors drive this urgency: First, the current system lacks the flexibility and structure required for businesses to thrive in a highly competitive global economy, which ultimately benefits the United States and its citizens.
