What You Need to Know
- Following Kamala Harris replacing Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket, data shows that lawyers accelerated donations.
- But donations for the Trump campaign from large law firms remained muted during the final stretch of the campaigns.
- Attorneys at Morgan & Morgan, Holland & Knight and Akin Gump gave the most to Harris after she jumped into the race.
During the quarter stretching from August to mid-October, Florida lawyers in Big Law donated to Kamala Harris' presidential campaign at a faster pace than when President Joe Biden was on the ticket.
The Federal Election Commission released one of its final campaign finance reports in October, which captures all the donations made to both former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. The data shows that a number of law firms delivered more cash to the Democratic ticket under Harris than under Biden. Meanwhile, lawyers at Big Law firms remained hesitant to donate to Trump's campaign.
