A Florida jury awarded nearly $6.2 million in damages to a plaintiff in a negligence case against Walmart that happened during one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

The five-day trial centered on a Black Friday 2019 incident in which a Walmart store associate pulled a pallet jack through a crowded store without warnings or safety precautions, striking the plaintiff’s ankles and causing her to fall, according to the complaint. The resulting injuries necessitated extensive medical treatments, the plaintiff claimed.
