The former executive director and the former director of finance for the Bayfront Trust in Miami sued the Bayfront Trust, Joe Carollo and Javier Baños, longtime accountant for Carollo, late Tuesday evening in the Southern District of Florida.
Jose Suarez and Jose Canto claimed in the complaint that Carollo and Baños threatened and then set out to undermine and force their departures after the plaintiffs began questioning the Bayfront Trust’s lack of proper accounting practices and procedures. According to the complaint, Carollo used the Bayfront Trust’s funds to pay for its own political ventures, supporting Carollo’s District 3 Political Office and overpaying Carollo’s political allies.
