Florida's Second Circuit Court of Appeals entered a ruling on Friday that affirmed what an attorney said was the first litigated class certification in the U.S. on whether students should receive a refund on their tuition during COVID-19 for services their colleges failed to provide.

And the ruling is good news for doctoral student Valerie Marie Moore, the plaintiff, who in 2021 filed a breach of contract action on behalf of herself and other University of South Florida students against the USF Board of Trustees, the defendant.
