MagicJack’s ubiquitous late-night television infomercials promise consumers can save hundreds of dollars a year with a little device for making phone calls over the Internet.

The West Palm Beach-based company has grown so fast, it even sponsored a college football bowl game in St. Petersburg, Fla. But on the business side, the company is fighting back against critics, filing a federal lawsuit against competitors who linked to a Web site based in Singapore that railed against magicJack‘s boxy product.
