A Miami federal judge has ended a 10-year legal battle over the drownings of two people whose deaths inspired a landmark court rulingon beach safety.
The victims’ families sued the city of Miami Beach for not warning about dangerous beach conditions and not providing lifeguards. Despite a negotiated settlement between the city and the families, the insurance carrier refused to pay damages, triggering years of legal spatting.
