The breakup of former class-action powerhouse Cohen Milstein Hausfeld & Toll has reached epic levels of ugliness.

Ex-name partner Michael Hausfeld discovered his partners had voted him out of the firm when he walked into his Washington office in November 2008 and found a note on his chair informing him of his involuntary termination. He decided to start a firm bearing his name and persuaded 20 Cohen Milstein lawyers to come with him.
