Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum reached an $8.5 million settlement in a Medicaid fraud suit that began as a whistle-blower claim by a small Key West pharmacy.

The state filed to intervene in the case brought by Ven-A-Care of the Florida Keys and announced agreements Wednesday with Boehringer Ingelheim Roxane, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Boehringer Ingelheim and Ben Venue Laboratories.
