Filings of prepackaged bankruptcies – deals that companies and creditors hammer out before heading to Bankruptcy Court – have almost tripled so far this year, according to a bankruptcy research group.
Thirty prepackaged bankruptcies out of 164 Chapter 11 filings by public companies were filed this year through Nov. 9, according to the BankruptcyData.com division of New Generation Research in Boston.
