A clawback certainly sounds vicious. But so is a Ponzi scheme for those on the losing end.
The clawback has become common terminology in these turbulent financial times for taking back money from investors and those who received money from a Ponzi scheme or some other type of fraud. They might not even be investors. They just benefited from fraud in some way and may not have known it.
