Unyielding consumer resistance to high prices could thwart many companies’ efforts to rebuild revenue.

One measure of that resistance: Consumer price inflation disappeared from South Florida in the 12 months ended in October. Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that the federal agency’s consumer price index for Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties was 0.8 percent lower in October than in October 2008.
