The Palm Beach Clerk & Comptroller’s Office is using $403,000 in special state funding to hire as many as 15 temporary employees to help reduce the backlog of about 53,000 foreclosure cases.

Lawmakers allocated $3.6 million to the state’s 67 counties to help courts deal with the foreclosure crisis, which has been blamed for slowing down other cases. Most of the temporary positions have been filled, and the others are expected to be filled by the end of the week.
