When he watches a football game, attorney Matthew C. Couloute Jr. doesn’t see what the typical fan sees. Instead of running, passing and pageantry, Couloute sees potential liability issues, marketing opportunities and intellectual property in motion.
That’s especially true when it’s a football game played in the upstart United Football League. Since 2008, Couloute has been general counsel for the five-team league, working out of the Jacksonville, Fla., main office. He also serves as primary counsel handling all of the teams’ individual legal needs.
