Debra Villegas, the chief operating officer with a high school education who helped perpetuate Scott Rothstein’s $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme, was given the maximum 10-year prison sentence today by U.S. District Judge William Zloch.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeff Kaplan said Villegas was the most important person to help Rothstein’s law firm maintain the facade that defrauded investors of about $430 million in losses.
