A year after Miami city commissioners lowered building height limits in some pockets of the city, several property owners, including the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Miami, have filed claims against the city for millions of dollars in lost property values.

The archdiocese claims the citywide rezoning plan known as Miami 21 has devalued four of its properties south of the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens by $138 million. The properties include La Salle High School, the Shrine of Our Lady of Charity and Carroll Manor, a senior citizen home, along Miami Avenue near Mercy Hospital.
