Broward Circuit Judge Peter Weinstein has granted a highly limited new trial for a Colombian muralist who won a $5.4 million jury verdict for disabling injuries she suffered in a catastrophic fall.

The second trial is restricted to a claim for loss of consortium. Mercedes Zota was left severely disabled after a 14-foot fall from scaffolding onto a marble staircase resulted in a 25 percent loss of her brain mass.
