Broward Circuit Judge Cheryl Alemàn died Thursday of lung cancer after taking medical leave about six weeks ago, according to Chief Judge Victor Tobin.
“It’s an absolute shock,” Tobin said of her death, adding she was in good spirits when last he saw her in October. “It is a terrible tragedy for her family and for the circuit. She was a good person.”
