The Batchelor Foundation wants $79 million for investments lost when a publicly traded Boca Raton company failed 10 years ago, demanding the money from its auditor, BDO Seidman, an attorney said in opening statements Thursday at an accounting fraud trial.
BDO attorney Adam Cole defended the Chicago-based firm, acknowledging its work relied on financial sampling but saying that technique followed standard accounting practices.
