Yoss LLP ordered layoffs, missed capital contribution payments to former partners, plans to close offices and is bleeding lawyers as financial struggles worsen at the Coral Gables-based law firm.

Managing partner George Yoss confirmed Tuesday that the firm laid off a "handful" of lawyers and staffers in its Coral Gables and Atlanta offices last week, and more are planned in Fort Lauderdale today. Some layoffs were attributed to downsizing, and some were due to the firm’s decision to close its practice that handled sales of foreclosure properties, Yoss said.
