The Miami Heat and the Adams and Reese law firm are among the latest defendants in civil suits tied to the collapse of Stanford Financial Group, the Houston-based financial services company that law enforcement officials claim was actually a $7 billion Ponzi scheme.
Ralph Janvey, a partner at Dallas Krage & Janvey who is serving as the court-appointed receiver, last month sued the Miami Heat for $1.3 million in allegedly ill-gotten gains that disgraced financier R. Allen Stanford and his associates paid the NBA team.
