The value of 66,463 citrus trees will be decided by a jury of Palm Beach County residents brought to court to finish a trial that began more than three years ago.

The opposing sides in the long dispute over compensation for trees destroyed during the state’s failed citrus canker eradication program have boiled down to whether residents should receive the appraised value of their trees when they were destroyed as homeowners insist or the state’s estimated replacement cost.
