A state House plan to split the Florida Supreme Court into two five-member panels has been approved by the House Civil Justice Committee, with its Republican sponsor saying the measure will speed up a justice system that moves at a crawl.

State Rep. Eric Eisnaugle, the committee chairman, said he believes the Supreme Court works hard to get through its docket — but simply takes too long.
