A slew of Republican-backed judicial reforms, once thought of as retaliation for unappetizing Florida Supreme Court decisions, has been attributed to more sinister motives tied to control of legislative redistricting.
State Rep. Eric Eisnaugle, the Orlando Republican doing the heavy lifting on House Speaker Dean Cannon’s court bills, fended off accusations that this is an elaborate attempt to pack the Supreme Court with justices who would be beholden to the Republican supermajority when expected legal challenges to redistricting kick in.
