A man received a $150,000 settlement for spinal injuries he suffered after slipping and falling at a mall.
In 2002, Aaron Towne fell on a sidewalk at the Westshore Plaza shopping mall outside Maggiano’s Little Italy Italian restaurant in Tampa. He claimed he slipped on soapy water that was left on the sidewalk after restaurant employees cleaned earlier in the day. He suffered multiple cervical herniations and bulges, and a torn rotator cuff of the left shoulder. The mall claimed Maggiano’s was to blame for creating the condition. Maggiano’s claimed the fall was in a common area of the mall that the restaurant was not responsible for maintaining.
