Six religious leaders joined the Florida Education Association in a lawsuit Wednesday targeting the so-called Religious Freedom Amendment, claiming the proposed change in the state Constitution would require taxpayers to fund religious schools at the expense of public education.

The Legislature’s proposed Amendment 7 set for the 2012 presidential ballot misleads taxpayers and sets the stage for the dismantling of public education, opponents claim.
