The owners of the Miami-based mortgage modification firm Best Value Homes have been arrested on state racketeering conspiracy and fraud charges.
Best Value Homes was accused of misrepresenting its services by promising through telemarketers to modify home mortgages and taking $750,000 from about 500 victims in 2008 and 2009 without completing the promised services. Advance fees ranged from $1,500 to $1,750.
