Among the thicket of possible legal offshoots growing out of Boca Raton billionaire Harry Sargeant’s Jordan-to-Iraq military supply venture is interest by the U.S. Justice Department in possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

The FCPA’s main purpose is to deter U.S. citizens and companies from bribing foreign officials. Offenders can be barred from bidding on government contracts and risk large fines and in some cases jail time.
