As their case prepared to go trial, scions of one of Atlanta’s most notable families settled a suit brought by their former lawyers at Balch & Bingham.

The deal resolved a dispute that started when descendants of Coca-Cola founder Asa G. Candler and several of their development companies hired Balch & Bingham to defend them from a relatively minor nuisance suit. The suit was settled for $45,000. But in 2008, the firm sued the Candlers and their companies for $135,000 in unpaid fees.
