RealAuction.com, a Plantation-based online auction company, asked the 4th District Court of Appeal on Monday to reverse a $1.46 million judgment against the company and its chief executive officer for allegedly interfering in a competitor’s bid to put Broward County tax certificates online.

In a 2009 trial, a jury concluded company CEO Lloyd E. McClendon defamed Pittsburgh-based Grant Street Group and interfered with its contract negotiation with the county. McClendon was alleged to have falsely claimed Grant Street was under investigation by the Florida attorney general’s office.
