In the last year, Hinshaw & Culbertson purchased a firmwide videoconferencing system to cut down on partners’ travel, surrendered its Dolphins and Marlins season tickets and discontinued its permanent summer associate program. As a result of the belt tightening, the Chicago-based law firm has saved tens of thousands of dollars.

“If we want to take clients to a game, we’ll buy individual tickets,” said Cheryl Wilke, managing partner of Hinshaw’s Fort Lauderdale office. “It’s fair to say we’ve saved 40 percent on travel and entertainment in the last year. The clients are happy because they’re not paying for our travel time.”
