State and bankruptcy judges discussing the mortgage foreclosure morass suggest the state Supreme Court and Legislature should consider broadening options for sanctions.

Broward Chief Circuit Judge Peter Weinstein said that while he is an advocate of mediation, he has come to believe lenders and servicers do not bother to read loan modification paperwork. In too many cases, he said he’s told a borrower to submit paperwork several times but it is reported lost.
